Lisette Collins - Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology

Lisette is an experienced Consultant in Head and Neck/Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

 

She has an extensive history of working in the hospital & health care industry. Skilled in Research, Clinical Research, and  Medical Education.

 

She specialises in diagnosis of all aspects of head and neck, as well as thyroid pathology for both the NHS and private organisations. In addition to her qualifications in Dentistry and Pathology she also holds a BSc in biochemistry and a Master's in genomic medicine.

 

Lisette teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students at King's College London as well as nationally to specialty trainees in pathology, oncology, maxillofacial surgery and oral medicine. She continues to be engaged in medical education curriculum design and examination.

  • Mutational analysis of Ossifying Fibroma, University of Sheffield, 2016-2017
    • Investigated the feasibility and suitability of DNA extraction for genomic analysis from decalcified formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue
    • Conducted whole exomic analysis of ossifying fibroma variants to explore the genetic origins between cemento-ossifying fibroma, juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma and juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma
    • Performed bioinformatics analysis including alignment, variant calling, variant annotation and prioritisation using online analytic software (Galaxy, Ensembl VEP, ClinVar and SIFT)
    • Results presented at the British Society of Oral Pathology Annual Scientific Meeting, Sheffield, 2018 and the European Congress of Pathology, Bilbao, 2018
